Perfect World Legacy

Perfect World

PERFECT WORLD LEGACY
http://pwlegacy.com/

There is another side of me – which is a bit boyish – that made me so in love with online games. As far as I can remember, no – scratch that, I mean since I was in second year high school, I had been playing MMORPGs. I was always so intrigued with computers that I did everything to learn about it and use it for fun and my own entertainment. That’s how I landed on my first online game. But through the years, I jumped from one game to another, looking for some potential in all of them. But there’s one certain game that really left a mark in me – which I had continuously loved since I first laid eyes on it. What I’m talking about is Perfect World. Now, what’s could make this game stand out from the millions of other MMORPG out there – existing all around the globe? Well, you’re about to find out.

PERFECT GRAPHICS
When I choose an online game, I always consider the graphics first. I know that’s kind of weird for those hard-rock gamers that put game play first – but hey, I’m a girl! I love MMORPGs with excellent graphics that are colorful, soft and fluent. I can’t really describe through my own perspective but let’s just say it should look cool. I am also proud to say that Perfect World has one of the greatest graphics on MMORPG land, and it wouldn’t disappoint you. From the scenery, towns, and the character itself – they’re just perfect for my taste. One excellent feature of Perfect World is on your character itself, which you can customize extremely to match your taste. You change its hair and hair color, the face and its features, the skin and eye color too! Plus, the skill sequences would get you breathless with its special effects. I cannot put it more into words but you can witness it with your own eyes. Perfect World is perfectly beautiful in its own special way, and it would impress you from the very start when you log inside the game.

GAME PLAY
This game isn’t hard, because leveling is based on quests that players had to do starting from Level 1. There are games that you have to kill mobs and monster to gain experience, but quests on Perfect World gives out excessive experience to help you level up. Also, you’ll have a lot of jobs/classes to choose from and find something that would fit your taste and personality. With all the options that you have, you couldn’t ask for more from this game!

Now, Perfect World Legacy – another great server – will soon be released with two of the recent updates from Perfect World International. It is called Genesis and Tideborn. What’s so special about these two are the new classes and maps soon to be available for the players. I had a glimpse on Tideborn when I checked it out on PW PH, but it’s Genesis that I’m so excited about. For players, having new classes and new maps to explore is like a huge box of candy for children. It’s like another class to explore and discover its strength and weaknesses. Maps are exciting settings that any player would challenge himself to conquer.

Another feature that I really liked on Perfect World is its Territorial War, where guilds/clans fight to claim them. The whole Perfect World map is composed of different towns and places that any guild could claim as theirs, and they’d have to fight over it on Territorial Wars. In my own experience, it was definitely fun because you’re with all your clan mates fighting alongside each other. You have enemies to beat, towers to destroy and a base to conquer! It’s all about excitement, thrill and tactics – winning a Territorial War isn’t easy, because the Clan Master has a lot of players to organize and instruct to gain triumph. But wars aren’t all about losing and winning – it’s about teamwork, which Perfect World inflicts to its players. It is comradery at its finest – fight together and win together! This is the game where you’ll develop friendship and bond with players thousand miles away from you.

Player Vs. Player is the bomb for me too, because with it you can test how strong your character finally is. What’s the best thing about this is that you’ve got a choice whether you wanted your PVP option ON or OFF. When it’s off, no one can kill you with your guard down, but usually its the strong ones who always got that option ON. Any player’s dream is to defeat someone and boast that they’re strong and capable. This is where the players’ egos grow and die too, it’s everyone’s wake up call in the game – PVP. When you can’t beat them, walk off. If you beat them – SHOUT IT TO THE WORLD. (Unless it’s a noob and a lot of level lower than you, then forget about the shouting thing.)

FEATURES
Flights and mounts are available here on Perfect World Legacy. These can help your stay in the game more convenient and make things go faster. The cooler the mount or flight, the cooler your character is. I know it’s dumb, but it’s the truth, and I don’t want to be a hypocrite. Everyone wants the cool newly-released mount to show off, or buy the best flight to help them escape fast during PVP. But for me, flight is for escape and mounts is for running fast. It’s more of the use for me than the showing off. But hey, if you have the best thing in the world, you should share them with everybody!

Another thing that really got me hooked on this game is the FASHION. Aside from those cool and bulky (or showing) armors, players have that option to put on modern and classy clothes on their characters. I think that’s the connection of the game to the generation now – inserting modernity inside an online game. I remember my first fashion for my character was a blue bikini. And from that point, I invested on Fashion more than those other important stuffs. I told you, I’m a girl, and I tend to do girlie stuffs. When the men raged about armors and weapons, us girls raged about the latest set of Fashion which was the Bridal Gown. It was very fun, to play dress up and look wonderful among the rest – it’s a dream come true.

PROS AND CONS
I can’t really find a downside on this game, unless you want to hear about the things I disapprove inside the game (like the Flight Feature on Territorial Wars), because it is fun and challenging. But maybe, for those players who are very impatient, the quests might bore you or you might find those very tiring. With this game, you have to be very patient – but I think Perfect World Legacy made an exception about that aspect and customized the game for the benefit of the players. PW Eclipse, sister server of Legacy, was customized to make leveling faster and easier. You wouldn’t have to do the quests anymore, but kill necessary monsters to get the needed experience. I think Legacy would be the same with Eclipse, and it’s another plus for the hopeful players. On private servers, you wouldn’t have to wait months to reach a fair and high level, because actually it could only take you some days to achieve something like that. That’s what I like about PW Legacy, because of the convenience it gives to its players.

I TOTALLY SUGGEST PERFECT WORLD LEGACY to all my gamer friends and to those who want to try the MMORPG world for the first time. The game play isn’t too complicated, there are a lot of features, multiple classes and a wide variety of maps – what else could you really ask for? Another trait of a great online game is how players stick with it years after year – or remember it way after they quit it. I mean, for me, it had been five years since I played Perfect World, and I still long for it deep within. Though I gave up on some of the servers, I was very glad that something like Perfect World Legacy will soon be released. It’s an all new server – so players can have a fresh start all over again! New friends, new characters, new guilds and new territories… all ready and up for grabs! I am very excited to get my hand on this game, because Perfect World is my only true love when it comes to MMORPG. You will never get tired of it, and the game just keeps on getting better and better!

The Era Has Ended

So, finally…I have the moment to make my official post about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. At first, I actually tried to look for friends who would watch it with me, avid fans or not. The day came by unexpectedly when I asked my friend, Gg, through text if he wants to watch HP 7 with me. There were a lot of complications, but during lunch, he finally agreed and we even pulled our other friend, Jeff with us.

I arrived at A. Bichara Silverscreens at around 1PM and found Jeff waiting for me at the entrance. Gg went to buy food, and we waited for him as we updated each other with our lives. Gg and Jeff were my former workmates back in SLTCFI BPO. They’re SEOs, and I was a content writer back then. We parted ways when we resigned one by one to reach the next stage in our careers.

When Gg came back with the food, we went straight up to the third floor to buy our tickets. We were surprised at how long the line was, it was a phenomenon anyway. I was the one assigned to wait in the line, as they treated me with my ticket. It was very hot, I had a jacket on, and the line progressed really slow. It was a miracle when we finally got the tickets, but shocked that the next start of the film is still at 5:00 PM, that was only 2:00 PM when we got the tickets.

So, we walked off to another mall just to spend time out of boredom. We visited one of our former workmate too, who’s working at Octagon, Kuya Miko. We asked him to come with us, but he’s on duty, so he refused. After three McFloats, we went back to Bichara’s around 3:00 PM, still got 2 hours before the film starts again. Luckily, Bichara conducted a Harry Potter booth that take and sell pictures of fans for just 50 PHP. As usually, we didn’t miss it.

I was so happy! It was the first time a photo of me was taken dressed in Harry Potter costumes. I had a wand and the Sorting Hat. Gg’s in full set – cloak, hat, wand and broomstick. Jeff pulled the look off with the bowler hat with a ribbon and exposing the broomstick to complete our picture. We printed thrice, one for each of us. Another hour to go, we hanged out on the booth, checking out the props or talking about random stuffs about HP. Jeff and Gg weren’t avid fans unlike me, they were just fascinated and intrigued by the HP movies. To make time pass more quickly, we took more photos using Jeff’s phone, but it didn’t took long – the battery was dead in about minutes.

Finally, the security beckoned us into a line and in about seconds, it became quite long. I was tensed at that moment, in 5 minutes or so, the last movie of my childhood will be shown and that’s the end of it. In the thick line, I saw fans, trying-hard-to-be-fans, movie goers, parents and kids, family and those who are just plain curious. I wondered whether we had there on that line people who shared Harry Potter for about ten years, since we were kids. I saw two pretty girls in mascara, they looked giddy, but looked like trying-hard fans too. As our 3D glasses were distributed, we finally entered the cinema, where we weren’t able to take more pictures, and Jeff’s phone already died.

Our close friends, Joy and Luis, who were also with us back in BPO reserved us their seats, so we ended up on the best seats in the theater, just about in the middle. Trailers were shown on the screen, and I gripped my hanky tighly. We were waiting for seconds until it happen, I wondered whether Gg and Jeff felt the same electricity.

The comic above literally described me as I watched the film. I tried so hard trying to keep silent as I cried over Snape, over Hogwarts, over Harry and the others – over Fred Weasley, over Tonks and Remus, over Lavender Brown… even over Voldemort. For me, I felt like I had watched the last movie in the best way possible. Watching it in 3D completed the moment. It felt so real, so life-like…it was all worth it (the money, yeah). As I watched, it didn’t sink in instantly, that it was about to end. It’s like I was in a coma or something, I can’t react properly. I wanted to cry, to shout, to beg, to swoon or faint – ALL OF THOSE AT THE SAME TIME.

The History…

I first found out about Harry Potter when I was ten back in our hometown in Pilar Sorsogon. The life there is very plain, naive – simple. I saw the books in the news and wondered why everyone loves it. When my Papa bought a VCD copy of the movie, I fell in love immediately with Daniel Radcliffe. He’s the cutest guy I saw (I was ten, remember) and when I watched the movie, I loved him more. Though, at ten years old, I actually didn’t understand the movie. It was in high school that I managed to watch Chamber of Secrets, the second movie, in a much clearer copy than of Sorcerer’s Stone. We finally moved to Legazpi at those times, and technology and media there are a bit better than in the province. I asked my aunt, Tita Nen to buy me the set, but it was pretty expensive. Not until they did bought their family the hardbound set when I got to read all of them (Half Blood was recently released at those times). As I read each book one by one, I remembered a friend back in Pilar, Ate Joy, who’s an avid fan as well. She piled my interest on HP higher than before. She inspired me to be a more serious reader of the novel. I actually owe her a lot for introducing me deeper to Harry.

When Sirius Black died at the Order of the Phoenix, I cried so much. It’s like Kingsley’s (The Youtube Sensation) description when he finished Deathly Hallows.

“…I cried alone in my bed as though someone told me I had a miscarriage.”

It’s what I felt when Sirius died, also when Dumbledore died too when one of my aunts from the US, Tita Cheryl, shipped me a copy of Half Blood Prince. I asked why Rowling had been killing these very important characters. I decided she must be a bit masochistic.

Through the internet, HP Lexicon became my refuge. I printed some of its contents regarding information of the Hogwarts Houses. I posted them on my room’s wall, creating a cork board totally dedicated for Harry Potter. When the third film was released, Prisoner of Azkaban, it was the first time I get to watch an HP film in the theater. I saved for it, skipped recess so that I’ll be able to buy tickets. I watched the first ever show (morning) at the mall, and even repeated it four times in different days. Daniel grew more beautifully, as well as Emma and Rupert. I collected KZONE magazine, they always feature HP on their mag, I tore off the articles and pictures and posted them on my wall too.

The movies went on and I never missed one. It’s usually on November, my birthday month, so I consider my trips to the theater to watch the movies as my gifts to myself. When Deathly Hallows was released, the whole world was on it. I didn’t have the budget to buy me a copy, it was impossible to get your hands on one those days – it’s always SOLD OUT. Illegally (I think), my friend sent me an EBOOK version and I printed it on poor quality paper. I used up all the ink for the printer on our Internet Cafe. It was too sad because I had no proper time to read the print outs. I was very thankful when a year after that, I managed to buy a paperback one and finally understood the ending.

When I finished the book, I was in a coma again. I can’t believe in my mind and in my heart that it finally ended, and that there will be no other books to look out for. All we had is the movie, and that’s what fans all over the world held at in order to quench their thirst for Harry Potter.

And thus, when the moment arrived – we weren’t that prepared at all.

TUMBLR.COM users conducted an ALL HARRY POTTER POST on July 14/15. I felt so happy as I browsed on pictures of Dan, Emma, Rupert and other Harry Potter characters on my dashboard. I dreaded the end of the day.

~

When the film was done, we filed out of the theater and took a picture again for the aftermath. My eyes were all swollen, I even had the brief idea of nicking the 3D shades out (LOL but I didn’t). I was totally in a coma. I wanted to cry so much, because as we walked out of the theater, it was the last time I’ll see the trio together on a Harry Potter movie. My childhood had ended, finally, after freaking ten years. Since I was 10 and now I’m almost 21, it felt like a very long journey I never wanted to end. I felt grateful for my two friends who treated me for this movie, because the experience was the best I could ever imagine. I felt sad because there’ll be Harry Potter no more in the cinemas, but I know in myself that Harry Potter will never disappear. I know, like all the fans all over the world, we will carry Harry on to the next generation. I will definitely introduce him to my son, Lance, when he’s older, and to my other future children. I will tell my grandkids of how I watched the last movie, and how I finished the last book. I’ll show them our booth picture and brag about me holding a wand.

I will never ever forget about Harry Potter, no – NOT EVER.

I will forever remember the story that took out all the depression in my life, the outlet of my happiness, the source of excitement and magic. I will never forget how I fantasized of going to Hogwarts, of being Sorted, of battling in the Chamber of Secrets. I will not forget Harry’s first kiss, of Harry’s love for Ginny, Ron and Hermione’s fights and the Quidditch matches. I will not forget about Sirius, Dumbledore, Snape, Lily, James, Remus, Tonks, Fred and all the characters that died in the film. I EXPECT NON-FANS TO FIND THIS WEIRD AND OVER-REACTING. I fully understand. IF you’ve never really fallen in love with Harry Potter and his adventures, you wouldn’t shed a single tear for its ending. I will never forget about the BOY WHO LIVED as he became THE BOY WHO DEFEATED THE DARK LORD.

I will never forget that wonderful part of my childhood. I will keep on reading the book until I’m old and gray. And if someone will tell me after 40 or 50 years of loving Harry “After all this time?”

Then my answer will be a sincere and happy “Always.”

~

Thank you Jo for creating Harry and the magical world we always run to. And thank you Dan, Emma and Rupert – for everything. ♥
